I've finally wrapped up a bit of a genealogy project--scanning and transcribing a set of letters that my great-aunt wrote back to her family from Europe while she was with the Red Cross after WWII. I really enjoyed reading them, and I was kind of surprised at just how "long ago" some of the scenes she described sounded to me. My favorite part of the project came near the end of the stack of letters, though. When she was transferred to Schweinfurt, she wrote:
A few weeks ago while Mom and I were putting together a slide show for Dad's 70th birthday, I was poking around on Amazon for some appropriate tunes. On a whim, I searched for The Irish Rovers. I'm relaxing today, making scrapbook pages from some recent pictures. I read about Adobe's Kuler in the latest issue of Digital Scrapbooking, and decided to go check it out. One of things you can do is point it at a flickr picture, and it will generate a set of colors that go with that picture.

The MO and I headed to Dallas this weekend with Prime Time Lou and the Fiberglass Badger to celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary with a trip to Ranger Stadium in Arlington to see a Rangers baseball game.
When I got home this evening, Mel was lounging in this very odd pose.... I went and grabbed the camera, and she actually stayed there for a while so I got some good pictures.
