Well, it ain't Pogo....

Go check out this critter. (I'd love to be able to include the picture here, but short of copying hrh.squeak's picture and loading it back up, I don't see a way to do that.... Hello Vox? Easy ways to link to each other's stuff?)

It's almost cute. But not quite! Although I admit to being quite intrigued by the little front toes.... Unfortunately, they rapidly lose cuteness as they grow. A full-grown possum is just, well, yucky. (Our ever-lovin' blue-eyed Pogo excluded, of course.)

And when they come in through your ash chute (or whatever that thing under the fireplace is called) in the middle of the night and eat all the cat food and ignite world war iii in terms of said cats' reactions, well, then they're REALLY not cute. Just ask the MO, who responded to the ruckus in boxers (middle of the night, remember?) and cowboy boots (yet alert enough to consider ankle bites), wielding the kitchen broom (baseball bat was too short, I guess?)....
